Welcome

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Dré… My name is André LeRoy Davis and I have provided a visual record of the world of Hip-Hop entertainment and it’s entertainers for over twenty-five years. I am an artist, a writer, a poet, an M.C, a producer, a teacher and a journalist. Since 1994 my writing alter ego, “A.L.Dré” has written stories, conducted interviews and structured music reviews for the likes of HipHopDX, Vibe, Rappages, XXL, Smooth Magazine and The Source Magazine. I was the longest running consistent employee of The Source Magazine. My “Last Word” column originally graced the back page of every issue from September 1990 to January 2007. I am deeply immersed in the Hip-Hop culture, the Hip-Hop world and I make a strong point of artistically sharing my love of the culture with the masses. I welcome you to my site. When you have a chance please take the time to explore the animation, the graphics of Dré Designs, the links to some of my writings, and then on your way out purchase a print, a special screensaver for your phone or maybe even a T-Shirt or two. Peace

The Last Word

“The Last Word” and “The Last Word 2012” is The Column of Life, Hip-Hop, Music, Politics and What ever needs to be said via illustration! It’s a historical trip through the last twenty-five years and beyond in Hip-Hop.

My aim is to always awaken you visually and mentally, to make you laugh and to always say something that will evoke thought. “The Last Word” column was a staple in the pre-eminent Hip-Hop monthly magazine, The Source almost from the magazine’s inception. Taking an often witty and insightful character portrayal of some of the best known figures in urban music, my mission was to sum up one poignant topic from a given article in each issue of The Source in illustrated form. After severing all ties with The Source in 2007, The Last Word 2012 is now new, independent: free and self syndicated. Spread the word… “The Last Word”
